The School is being held in introductory and advanced courses on the most diverse subjects involving Optics, aiming graduate and undergraduate students that are about to finish their courses. The School's name pays homage to the Brazilian physicist Sergio Porto who contributed for the progress of science and technology in the Country and actively helped in the foundation and consolidation of the Department of Quantum Electronics of the Institute of Physics Gleb Wataghin.
