2. The second thing I realized is you need to have a line to drive one. In other words in order to drive a
line you need to know before you get to the corner where your going to drive your car through it.

Turtle Run

Now days after I get to the track and get set up I make what I call a turtle run. What I do is put in an old battery and intentionally drive around the track slowly. I try to get a feel for where I want the car to be at in every corner, obstacle, and most importantly on the straights.

STRAIGHTS  ????
The reason the straights are so important is because if you aren't in the rite place at the end of the straight you'll never get to the rite place in the corner. It takes humans about four tenths of a second to see something decide what to do about it and react. If you wait until the entrance of a corner to decide where your car should be you'll most likely be late with your control input. If your in the wrong place on the straight you will often upset the car if you try to correct your line in the last fraction of a second before a jump or corner.

Missing the line
If I miss my line going into a corner or over a jump I just go with the flow and try not to make the same mistake on the next lap.

Holding your line

The best way I've found to drive lines well is to start out running slow and gradually speed up until you can't hold the line. This lets you know exactly how fast you can run and still stay on line. I then try to run the race just slightly slower than that.

Multiple Lines

One thing I pay particularly close attention to is anywhere that there are two good lines through an area. These are the best passing zones if they exist. Some tracks are one liners, meaning there is only one good line around the track.
